Known to be quiet in his early days in the music industry, Julius Kang’ethe (also known as Bylaw) has lived to tell it through hit songs like Mumbi, Kiharo Kia Ndege and Kaba Nditindike, just to name a few.

Julius Kang’ethe was born 5 decades ago and was brought up along the slopes of Mt. Kenya. He recorded his first album, on vinyl, in 1981 and later on recorded 2 more albums under different recording publishers. In 1986 Bylaw began recording music under his own labels (Editions BYLAW Sounds and Coconut Records) and by 1988 he had recorded 9 albums.

During this period he was very active in studio recordings and performing live concerts in different parts of Kenya. Unfortunately in 1989 he fell ill suffering from a nervous disorder which forced him out of music. To date, Kang’ethe has recorded 8 albums and he hopes to record more although he still suffers from lack of coordination. In addition to his music career, Julius is a water color and oil creative art painter.
